Heer & Veer (Part 10)

PART 10

Heer was in a shocking state hearing what Emily just said.

“What did you say?”

“The truth. Veer is RK’s and his wife Diya Kapoor’s adopted son. He was a short-time member of this orphanage. It’s a long story. RK and his wife’s only son, Veer Kapoor, died in an accident when he was 7 years old. Diya Kapoor went into a coma for five years. When she woke up, she wanted to see her son. The doctors told them not to give her stress as there was a chance for her to go to a depression stage. Hence, RK adopted a child who looked similar to his dead son. Diya Kapoor still doesn’t know that Veer is not her son. RK even hid this from the media as no one knew about the accident and happenings followed by it. But Veer’s lucky. Both RK and Diya had showered him with lots of love and care. I’m happy seeing him happy as I know what all dreaded things that he had experienced in the past.”

“What has happened to him in the past?” Heer asked.

“It’s not something that he wishes to be disclosed. I’ll tell you when the time comes,” Emily told.

“By the way, what did he tell you and that too so personally?” Emily asked Heer with a playful tone.

“I don’t know what happened to him suddenly. He wants me to be his date for a party tonight.”

“What? OMG!!! Veer wants you to be his date? It’s unusual,” Emily said with an astonished expression.

“Why? Why is it unusual?” Heer asked.

“Veer don’t usually ask girls out. Girls go after him. So that’s why I said like that which means” – “Wait, I know where you’re taking this. There’s nothing like that,” Heer said with a nervous tone. She didn’t want Emily to complete that sentence as she knew that there are zero chances for a boy like Veer to fall in love with her.

“So what have you thought? Are you going to the party?”

“How can I go? Maa will kill me.” Heer said.

“Who’s gonna tell your Maa about this? Look, Heeru. I must say this is a great opportunity to outshine yourself. You should definitely go,” Emily said.

“But Mily” – “No buts. Don’t worry about Maa. I’ll tell her that you’re staying with me tonight as there’s a function in the orphanage.” Mily said by cutting off Heer. Heer stood there with a nervous expression on her face.
